Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, yellowish orange to golden brown liquid.
Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A middle note with a medium aroma, Orange Essential Oil has a sweet, citrus smell like the orange peels from which it is derived, but more intense and concentrated.
Blends With: Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon, Clary Sage, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Nutmeg, Cinnamon Bark and Clove Bud.
Product Abstract: Orange is derived from an evergreen tree. It is smaller than the bitter orange tree, and less hardy with fewer or no spines. The fruit itself has a sweet pulp with no bitter membrane. It is believed that sweet orange was brought to Europe by the Arabs in the First century along with the bitter orange.
Cautions: Dilute well before use; May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Has an Emotionally Uplifting Effect when inhaled through the nose. It is a nice addition to an Uplifting, Calming, Stress Relieving Massage Oil or Skin Lotion. (2% Dilution in Carrier Oil or Lotion– 12 drops of EO to 1 ounce of Carrier Oil).
**This variety of Orange Oil is "sweet orange" and is NOT Photo-toxic as opposed to "bitter orange" (Citrus aurantium) which is phototoxic meaning that if it is applied onto the skin within 24 hours of sun exposure the skin can cause photosensitization (natural chemicals found in particular essential oils react when exposed to Ultraviolet UVA light. Inflammation, blistering and reddening/burning of the skin are common) . (NAHA- National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy).
Use in a Spray Bottle of Distilled Water for a Clean Uplifting Aroma. (12 drops of EO per 1 ounce of Distilled Water). Spray onto Counter tops for disinfecting. Add to soaps and natural cleaning products.
